Type Locality and Naming

The type section is lies at Heiwuling of Zhangbagou, 8 km west of the Majiaoba Railway Station, Jiangyou, Sichuan. It was named by Yang Shipu and Jiang Jianjun in 1987.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. White moderately thick- to thick-bedded crystalline limestone, occasionally intercalated with purple calcarenite. Thickness 36.4−89 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Zongchanggou Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Upper Carboniferous Huanglong Fm

Regional extent

This formation is stable in lithology and widely distributed along Jiangyou and Tongkou of Beichuan, with Zhangbagou of Jiangyou being the best developed.
